Burgundy has become known for being the best land in the world for producing both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Most Burgundy is produced from a single varietal, and very little blending is allowed, though some exceptions are made in places. There are 100 Appellations in Burgundy and these are classified into four quality categories. These are Bourgogne, Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru.
